Biography

Alexander Latsis

Alexander Spiro Latsis has a broad range of professional skills and interests, including venture capital, start-ups, investing, EdTech, tech, mobile gaming, and children’s media.

Latsis is an intuitive and skilled entrepreneur, with knowledge and expertise in management and business strategy. As the Managing Partner of Brighteye Advisors, Latsis played an important role in structuring and developing the Brighteye Ventures EdTech funding ecosystem, guiding the fund through its early stages and building the business which now operates throughout Europe.

In 2008, at the age of 26, Alexander Latsis co-founded Nobrow Ltd. (with its imprint Flying Eye Books), a publishing company that grew to great success, publishing up to 60 titles a year around the world distributed by Penguin Random House (US). He still retains a controlling interest in the company but had stepped back from operations in 2014.

Currently, Latsis is involved in a number of projects, including Trollberg Ltd., an entertainment content licensing business, which has sold rights to major partners such as Netflix, and MINILAB Limited, which Latsis co-founded with the aim of creating beautiful educational apps for children. Based in London, the company has been responsible for creating popular educational entertainment and gaming for children, and its products have achieved millions of downloads. As the Owner of BIGUMAKU Limited (a subsidiary of MINILAB Limited), a mobile gaming company also based in London, Latsis partners with large entertainment businesses to develop casual mobile experiences based on popular intellectual properties.

As the Owner of MINILAB Limited/BIGUMAKU Limited, Latsis’ work with these London-based EdTech and gaming companies has been recognised with several prestigious industry awards, including a Webby award in 2016 for ‘Best Family and Kids App of the Year’. Through his content licensing work Latsis is also the proud recipient of a BAFTA, an Annie, and an Emmy.

Alex Latsis is an Investment Committee member (VC) for Gestron Asset Management, a registered AIFM fund manager that manages investments in venture capital and private equity. Focusing on technology-related investments, Latsis has been involved with the company since 2016, helping to structure the business, offering advice on investments in GPs, and overseeing the creation of the Brighteye sub-fund structures.

Businessman and entrepreneur Alexander Latsis studied Modern History at the University of Oxford. He later continued his education, gaining his TRIUM Executive MBA at the London School of Economics/NYU Stern School of Business/HEC Paris.

Fluent in English and French, Alex Latsis also has a good command of Greek, and a basic understand of Turkish, German, and Spanish.
